Day Trip to Lodz – former textile capital and current film mecca

Nobody can talk to art like mamma!

She is one musical woman!

The most amazing textile museum one could imagine.  This city was the world #1 producer of textiles beginning in the 19th century  and into the 20th.
This museum had the history and  chronological displa of the machines up to the most complex.  Also, stories of the textile workers, a huge costume display, also chronological.  My favorite, huge comtemporary textile sculptures and creations on the 5th floor.  Huge clean, industrial spaces.
Lodz  is also a film capital with a groundbreaking film school.  the stars on the sidewalk in front of the the Grand Hotel commemorated 3 dozen of the film titans – including Roman Polanski, Adre Wajda .The hotel is situated ona busy pedestrian street.  Many of the industiralists near-palatial homes have been restored to give the downtown a remarkable appearance.

  1. These are lovely photos. Lodz seems to be a prosperous city again. Is there any more information about the films that are being produced? When was the film school established?
